Le student residences (student housing) constitute an important lever for real estate development and urban redevelopment in Italy, assuming an increasingly central role in the growth strategies, also from a "smart" perspective, of cities, private operators, and real estate investors.

In particular, the new emerging formats, which combine the integration of residential, hotel and co-working, increase the strategic role of university residences:

• in the growth of complementary urban functions;
• in the specialization of services as a critical success factor of the Smart City.

Proposal

A student-friendly location intelligence platform for Turin

In this perspective, starting from the implementation of the location intelligence and collection and analysis platform of georeferenced Big Data by Colouree (www.colouree.com), the experimentation in Turin of:

• an innovative web platform for analyzing the built spaces of the City starting from the specific needs of each student, able to dialogue with the tools and datasets of the City for the governance of services and urban security.

The experimentation will implement the Colouree web platform, and in particular the algorithms for analyzing the urban morphology and interoperability of geo-referenced big data, for:

• being able to return, through search tools and interactive web maps, the characteristics of any place in the city with respect to the individual needs and lifestyles of each user/student.

These needs can be described starting from the choice of parameters such as travel times from data points, presence of points of interest, accessibility and proximity to selected types of services or activities; up to the definition of parameters related to safety and environmental quality.
